Both pieces are knitted at 16-gauge in extra-fine merino, dense enough at the skirt to be opaque over the seat without a lining, and the tank is knitted with a self-finished scoop neck and armhole rather than a bound edge, so there is no ripple after washing. The skirt is straight and ends just below the knee, with a covered elastic waistband set into a knitted facing that keeps the line flat under a blazer instead of gathering at the hip. Merino is here for practical reasons: it comes out of a carry-on unmarked, it does not hold the smell of a day in air conditioning, and this yarn is treated for the machine's wool cycle. Wear the two together under a trench in July, then split them, the tank under the Beam blazer and the skirt with a shirt, and it reads as three outfits on a five-day work trip.
We choose our cloth from long-established mills in India, where these fibres have been woven for generations, and hold every roll to the same standard before it is cut. Your piece is then made up by hand in our Australian atelier.
Wash cool and gently, dry in the shade, and press on a low heat. Silk and linen are happiest dry cleaned.
Australian sizing, AU 6 to AU 16. Cut true to size. Between sizes, take the larger for a relaxed line.
Made to order in limited runs and dispatched from our Australian atelier within 5 to 7 business days. Free shipping on every order, or fast shipping for $5. 30-day returns on unworn pieces with tags attached.
Australian sizing, measured in centimetres on the body. Between sizes? The fit note on each piece says whether to go up or down.
