Trestle Fluid Twill Trouser

Sandwashed lyocell twill at 210gsm has the weight and dry matte face of suiting but falls in a soft column rather than holding a hard crease, so it reads tailored without the structure. The waistband is curved, faced and closed with a hidden side zip so there is no fly bulk under a tucked shirt, with one back dart, on-seam pockets and a long wide leg that skims a flat shoe. It washes cold on a gentle cycle, which is what makes it the trouser for a Brisbane office in March, a 6am flight to Melbourne, and the three weeks either side of summer when wool is wrong. Ink and espresso for work, chalk with the Base tee on a Saturday.

• Care: Machine wash cold on gentle, line dry in shade, cool iron on the reverse. Do not tumble dry.
• Fit: High-rise, sitting at the natural waist, wide through the leg from the hip, with a 78cm inseam hemmed to order. Model is 175cm and wears AU 10.

We choose our cloth from long-established mills in India, where these fibres have been woven for generations, and hold every roll to the same standard before it is cut. Your piece is then made up by hand in our Australian atelier.

Wash cool and gently, dry in the shade, and press on a low heat. Silk and linen are happiest dry cleaned.

Australian sizing, AU 6 to AU 16. Cut true to size. Between sizes, take the larger for a relaxed line.
