Mullion Merino Rib Knit Midi

Knitted at 12-gauge in extra-fine merino with silk carried through, the rib is dense enough at 280gsm to hold a column line without a lining and fine enough not to add bulk under a coat. The funnel neck is knitted in one with the body rather than sewn on, the sleeves are fully fashioned at the shoulder and taper to a narrow cuff, and a 22cm split at the centre back hem lets you walk properly and take stairs at pace. It falls straight from the shoulder to mid-calf with no waist seam, so it works on a body that changes shape through the week. It is the piece for a Melbourne office in July, worn with boots and the Compass trench, and on its own with flats in a mild Perth September.

• Care: Hand wash cold in a wool detergent, or dry clean. Dry flat, do not hang. Do not tumble dry.

We choose our cloth from long-established mills in India, where these fibres have been woven for generations, and hold every roll to the same standard before it is cut. Your piece is then made up by hand in our Australian atelier.

Wash cool and gently, dry in the shade, and press on a low heat. Silk and linen are happiest dry cleaned.

Australian sizing, AU 6 to AU 16. Cut true to size. Between sizes, take the larger for a relaxed line.
