Threshold Poplin Shirt Dress

A 130gsm cotton poplin, yarn-dyed and mercerised so it takes a press and comes back from the wash without the limpness cheaper poplin develops after a season. The placket is hidden so the front reads as a clean line, there is a deep box pleat at the centre back for movement, and the shoulder is dropped two centimetres so the sleeve does not bind when you reach across a desk. It buttons to just below the knee, the self-belt can be pulled tight or left hanging, and the side seam pockets are set into the seam so they sit flat under a blazer. It is the dress for a day that runs from a nine o'clock meeting to a school pick-up in a Brisbane February, and it is machine washable, which is why it stays in rotation.

We choose our cloth from long-established mills in India, where these fibres have been woven for generations, and hold every roll to the same standard before it is cut. Your piece is then made up by hand in our Australian atelier.

Wash cool and gently, dry in the shade, and press on a low heat. Silk and linen are happiest dry cleaned.

Australian sizing, AU 6 to AU 16. Cut true to size. Between sizes, take the larger for a relaxed line.
