Cotton-silk faille at 260gsm has a dry, faintly ribbed hand and enough body to stand away from the leg and hold its shape through a full day of racing. The bodice is built on four princess seams with light boning at the side seams and a square neckline cut wide enough to carry a hat brim, while the cap sleeve is shaped and pressed rather than gathered. Below the natural waist the skirt is cut in four panels over a horsehair-braided hem so it flares cleanly, and the bow is cut in one with the back waist seam rather than tacked on, so it does not droop. Butter and cherry lacquer are for Oaks Day and a Hunter Valley spring wedding; chalk is the Derby Day answer for a woman who does not want to wear black. Fully lined in silk habotai, with an invisible zip at the left side seam and a levelled, taped hem.
We choose our cloth from long-established mills in India, where these fibres have been woven for generations, and hold every roll to the same standard before it is cut. Your piece is then made up by hand in our Australian atelier.
Wash cool and gently, dry in the shade, and press on a low heat. Silk and linen are happiest dry cleaned.
Australian sizing, AU 6 to AU 16. Cut true to size. Between sizes, take the larger for a relaxed line.
Made to order in limited runs and dispatched from our Australian atelier within 5 to 7 business days. Free shipping on every order, or fast shipping for $5. 30-day returns on unworn pieces with tags attached.
Australian sizing, measured in centimetres on the body. Between sizes? The fit note on each piece says whether to go up or down.
