Halo Bias Silk Camisole

Cut on the bias in 16 momme silk crepe de chine, which has a dry hand and a matte face, so it reads as a top rather than as lingerie under an office light. The straps are 8mm and adjust through metal sliders, bar-tacked at four points front and back, because a bias camisole fails at the strap join before it fails anywhere else. Front and back are each cut in one piece with a straight neckline and a shallow underarm curve that covers a bra strap, and the side seams are French-seamed and long enough to stay tucked into the Vigil pleated trouser when you raise your arm. Wear it under the Smoulder tailored blazer for a Sydney dinner, alone on a Perth evening in February, or with the Filament waistcoat and wide trousers at a Barossa long table lunch.

• Fabric: 100% silk crepe de chine, 16 momme, cut on the bias, French-seamed
• Care: Dry clean, or hand wash cold in a silk detergent and dry flat away from sun. Cool iron on the reverse. Do not tumble dry.
• Fit: Skims the body with bias give through the bust and waist, and the straps adjust by 5cm. Take your usual size for a fluid line, or size down for a closer one. Model is 177cm and wears AU 10.

We choose our cloth from long-established mills in India, where these fibres have been woven for generations, and hold every roll to the same standard before it is cut. Your piece is then made up by hand in our Australian atelier.

Wash cool and gently, dry in the shade, and press on a low heat. Silk and linen are happiest dry cleaned.

Australian sizing, AU 6 to AU 16. Cut true to size. Between sizes, take the larger for a relaxed line.
