Gloaming Velvet Mini

A viscose-silk stretch velvet with a short, dense pile and a fluid drape, cut so the pile runs downward and the colour reads deep rather than flat in low light. The front is deliberately covered, a high boat neck and a long fitted sleeve set on a narrow shoulder, and everything happens at the back, where the neckline scoops to the waist over a fine silk-organza tape that holds the curve without gaping. There is no zip; the stretch and a single hook at the nape are enough. Wear it to a Southern Highlands wedding in July, a black-tie winter benefit in Melbourne, or a June engagement party where every other guest is strapless and cold.

• Fabric: 78% viscose, 18% silk, 4% elastane stretch velvet, 250gsm
• Care: Dry clean only. Hang on a padded hanger, steam from the reverse only, and never press the pile.
• Fit: Close-fitting with stretch and cut long in the sleeve; true to size. Model is 177cm and wears AU 10, with the hem sitting 8cm above the knee.

We choose our cloth from long-established mills in India, where these fibres have been woven for generations, and hold every roll to the same standard before it is cut. Your piece is then made up by hand in our Australian atelier.

Wash cool and gently, dry in the shade, and press on a low heat. Silk and linen are happiest dry cleaned.

Australian sizing, AU 6 to AU 16. Cut true to size. Between sizes, take the larger for a relaxed line.
