Censer Barathea Tuxedo Waistcoat

An evening waistcoat cut to be the whole top half rather than a layer under something else, double-breasted, with a shawl collar faced in silk satin and a wool-mohair barathea that stays matte under photographers' lights instead of going shiny. Four self-covered buttons, light boning along both front edges and a full cupro back with a buckle strap keep the V flat against the skin and stop the front breaking open when you reach for a glass. Wear it with the Vigil pleated trouser to a black-tie dinner at the Sydney Opera House, or with the Glint bias skirt to a Melbourne winter wedding where a gown is too much. • Fabric: 78% wool, 22% mohair barathea, 260gsm; shawl collar faced in 100% silk satin; back and lining 100% cupro
• Care: Dry clean only. Steam the satin collar from a distance; never press it directly.
• Fit: Cut close through the rib and waist with an adjustable back strap, sitting at the hip bone. Size up for a fuller bust, or take your usual size over a fine camisole. Model is 179cm and wears AU 10.

We choose our cloth from long-established mills in India, where these fibres have been woven for generations, and hold every roll to the same standard before it is cut. Your piece is then made up by hand in our Australian atelier.

Wash cool and gently, dry in the shade, and press on a low heat. Silk and linen are happiest dry cleaned.

Australian sizing, AU 6 to AU 16. Cut true to size. Between sizes, take the larger for a relaxed line.
