Batten Rib Long-Sleeve Tee

A heavy 240gsm 2x2 cotton rib, which is why it holds its shape at the elbow and does not go transparent across the back. The neckband is knitted separately and set with a twin needle rather than turned and overlocked, and the sleeve is cut narrow with a slightly extended cuff that sits under a blazer sleeve without bunching. The body runs 6cm longer than a standard tee so it stays tucked into the Line wide-leg wool trouser through a full day of meetings. It is the layer under every blazer, suit and coat in the range, and it washes at home, which matters more than anything else on a piece worn once a week from March to October.

• Fabric: 92% cotton, 8% elastane, 2x2 rib jersey, 240gsm
• Care: Machine wash cold on gentle with like colours. Do not tumble dry. Reshape and dry flat to protect the rib. Warm iron if needed.
• Fit: Fitted through the body and sleeve with a high crew neck; the rib recovers, so it reads close rather than tight. Size up for a relaxed line. Model is 174cm and wears AU 10.

We choose our cloth from long-established mills in India, where these fibres have been woven for generations, and hold every roll to the same standard before it is cut. Your piece is then made up by hand in our Australian atelier.

Wash cool and gently, dry in the shade, and press on a low heat. Silk and linen are happiest dry cleaned.

Australian sizing, AU 6 to AU 16. Cut true to size. Between sizes, take the larger for a relaxed line.
