Reef Embroidered Cotton Kaftan

Slub cotton voile at 110gsm, embroidered tonally at the neck split and the cuff in a fine running stitch, with French seams throughout so there is nothing to fray after a season of salt. It is cut short, ending mid-thigh, with a deep split V finished by a self-faced placket and a single thread loop, so it pulls on over a wet swimsuit without dragging. The sleeves stop at the elbow, which is the length that keeps the sun off a shoulder on a boat without sticking to the arm. Take it to Noosa in January or a week in the Whitsundays, and wear it over linen shorts to walk up to lunch.

• Fabric: 100% cotton slub voile, tonal cotton embroidery, 110gsm
• Care: Machine wash cold on gentle with like colours. Do not bleach. Line dry in shade. Warm iron while slightly damp.
• Fit: Loose and unstructured through the body, ending mid-thigh. Take your usual size, or size down if you want less volume. Model is 179cm and wears AU 10.

We choose our cloth from long-established mills in India, where these fibres have been woven for generations, and hold every roll to the same standard before it is cut. Your piece is then made up by hand in our Australian atelier.

Wash cool and gently, dry in the shade, and press on a low heat. Silk and linen are happiest dry cleaned.

Australian sizing, AU 6 to AU 16. Cut true to size. Between sizes, take the larger for a relaxed line.
